Born in Tabriz, Iran in 1979, Cem became a Sculpture graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 2001. Between 2002-2005, he studied painting, mixed media, print and design alongside names such as Bruce Dorfman, Charles Hinman, Larry Poons, Richard Pantell and Michael Burban at the Art Students League of New York.

 

He has been working from both his studios in New York and Turkey since 2005 and he mainly focuses on creating abstract expressionist pieces. He has also painted classic still-lives and landscapes.

 

In 2004, Cem held his first solo exhibition at the Ibrahim Cecen Foundation Art Gallery and has also taken part in many solo and group exhibitions in Ankara, Istanbul and New York.

 

He became a member of the Con Artist Collective, New York in 2018, and here he not only created but also exhibited works in different disciplines like pointillism and animation.
