SUNA ÖZKALAN

She was born in Kayseri in 1936. She embarked on her painting journey in 1965 by taking painting lessons at the Turkish-American Association. Over the course of 10 years, she studied painting under Lutfu Gunay and Refik Ekipman, and printmaking under Professor Lingren.

In 1968, she got together with Imren Ersen, Necla Ozbay, Nurtac Ozler, Gulsen Erdogan and Sezen Palabiyik, and formed the Group of Six, which later saw the addition of Tayyar Eren and Lutfu Cetin to its ranks.

She can be found at the rehearsals of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, immortalizing the musicians in her paintings, and working on her abstract works with Lutfu Gunay.
